View Assignment After Due Date

Is there a way for students to see the assignment details (instructions) after the due date?  In my class, for example, the students have to do a reflective essay at the end of the semester, and it is helpful for them to see the actual assignments that they have responded to.

frankel​ I did some double checking and it appears that if you only have a due date set (no until date) then yes, students can still see the assignment directions. If you have an until date set then students will not be able to view the assignment directions.

frankel​ - yep, they can submit, but it doesn't mean you have to grade it. 😉

What most of our faculty do is have something in their syllabus and on the assignment directions stating their late work policy - ex: only accepting work 1 week past due date or not accepting any late work. From speedgrader it will be marked as late and you can see the day/time the assignment was turned in; in the gradebook it will be marked in light red (pink) to tell that it was submitted late.

The only other thing I can think of is if you copied and pasted the directions and re-posted them somewhere for the students to look through. Slightly tedious for you, but if you don't want the students to upload assignments late then that's about all I can think of. Sorry!

Hi C. David!

You can allow students to see the assignment details after the due date as long as you do not fill in the "Available Until" box. That way, students can still see everything about the assignment, and even submit past the due date, but the grade book will show the assignment as late when grading. You can choose not to penalize students for late assignments if you want them to be able to submit after the due date.
