To Our Amazing Educators Everywhere,
Happy Teacher Appreciation Week!
I had my students use the new annotation feature today and submit through their iPads. After they submitted, however, no assignment showed up for me or for them as submitted. I had a few students in the next class who, when they logged in, got the annotations from the student in the previous class, as well. How do I see the assignments they've submitted? And can I not use the same document for more than one class (if the other students work shows up on the document still)? (Students were logged into their own account when the other student's work showed up. A few submitted the assignment as a picture because I told them to take a screenshot once I realized they weren't submitting. Only one student's assignment submitted and I tried to find out what she did differently but it sounded like the same process as everyone else.) Any idea what might be going on?
Solved! Go to Solution.
This should be fixed now as of our 3.15.2 release last week! Lets us know if you encounter anything similar again! Thanks!
I also had this occur today. The student used the PDF to annotate on and then submitted using the "export" feature.. BUT, it didn't show up under the submissions tab with a timestamp AND it didn't populate in speedgrader for me either.
I'm not sure of the answer to this, but I'm going to share it with the Canvas Mobile Users group in the Community to see if they can help!
In looking over the Canvas by Instructure Release Notes (iOS 3.15), it appears as if you already brought up the issue there, correct? Or am I missing additional information?
In re-reading the content over there, it looks like Deactivated user is encouraging support tickets for the iOS team so they can examine further and hopefully fix the issue for those who are experiencing it.
Side note: @sdjohnson , the video you posted on the release notes showing the issue was super helpful to me as someone who hasn't experienced the issue...and frightening because now I know it's an issue I don't want to have!

There is now another problem and the students cannot annotate on the iPad at all. The editing bar comes up but when they choose to tool to use it just moves the pdf or document around and will not draw on it.
Hi @JannaBond - What type of submission are your students using? With Canvas Student, the best experience for annotating PDFs is with File Uploads. Added support for Annotations Submission Type (different!) should be coming soon.
Hi @cjohansson ...
I wanted to check in with you because there hasn't been any new activity in this thread since Deactivated user' reply on October 24th. Per Ben's posting, this looks to be resolved. Have you had a chance to apply the 3.15.2 update to your iPad(s)? (In fact, it looks like the latest version is actually 3.15.3.) If you could, please come back to this thread to give members of the Community an update. I'm going to go ahead and mark Ben's reply as "Correct", but that won't prevent you or others from posting additional questions/comments below about this particular subject. Looking forward to hearing from you, Clete!
Yes! The issue has been resolved and it's working wonderfully now! The only thing I would change is allowing them to open something they've already submitted and continue editing it, but I'm not going to complain, the new feature is great!
