To Our Amazing Educators Everywhere,
Happy Teacher Appreciation Week!
Hi, I am unable to download the Canvas student app on my Samsung Galaxy note 8.0 (bought in 2013). In fact in the play store the app is not even displayed. Is this because the android system is too old? I urgently need it for my classes so any help would be great. Thanks. Sandip

Howdy @sandip_paul ,
Let's see if you can access the Canvas Student app in the Google Play Store via a link.
The app requires Android 5.0 and up. If you're using an OS lower than 5.0, then that might be the reason. If you can't upgrade the OS, trying to access through your browser on your phone. If that doesn't work, it might be time for an upgrade or just continue to access Canvas via a desktop/laptop computer.

Let us know if the link helped or if you could access Canvas on your phone's web browser.

@jayoder ,
As of 2018, the regular base iPad supports a Pencil, so there is no need for a Pro anymore. It was originally $299 for the EDU pricing on this iPad, but I think it's now $309 - Buy iPad 10.2-inch - Education - Apple
He can then add the 1st generation Apple Pencil for $89:

Or the Logitech Crayon for $69:

I have a colleague who just bought a tablet recently to grade on Canvas at home. It is Android 9.0, but it is not showing in Play store...What other qualifications are required?
What kind of Android tablet is that? If it's a cheaper knock off type Android device, it's possible that either Google Play store or some of the apps won't be available.
Here is a good tidbit I found on another site:
The Play Store app won't show you an app that's not compatible with that device.
You can confirm this by using a browser to go to the Play Store (http://play.google.com), login to your account, find the app, and it will say something like "this app is compatible with some of your devices" or "this app is not compatible with your devices". If you hit the "install" button it will give you a list of your devices and tell you which ones are compatible or not.
If you want, let the developer know (their email is at the bottom of the app's page). Tell them everything about your device; make, model, android version, memory, everything you can think of. They can check their requirements and maybe adjust them to make them compatible.
I think this is a good start.
That’s what I ended up doing and got that statement. The best is IPad Pro, I feel bad because this is like the 3rd device he has tried all so he can grade on Speedgrader and he is pushing 60. He can’t afford the Pro. Oh well. Thanks for the help!

Hello. The canvas student does show on my app store but it seems i can't download it. It doesn't installing when i clicked on the "install". My storage is definetly not the problem since i have 8gb extra space. Also, not my os version (11). Hope you can help me with this. I tried every possible way to restart the play store.
