Any have any idea to disable the push notification received on mobile when the professor makes an annotation to your submission? I just spent the last hour listening to my phone go off as my professor annotated several parts of my paper. It was crazy to say the least. I couldn't seem to find any setting to specifically disable just annotation notifications like this.
Did you try disabling the mobile notification for "Submission Comment"? That's what I would try. Beyond that, there isn't any other notification setting specifically related to assignment annotations.
I have that setting turned off. It does not fix it.
I'd like to add that this is a concern, for student well-being but also for faculty. It is not really appropriate for students to be receiving real-time alerts every time I make an annotation on an assignment when it's grading time, not only so they aren't driven crazy but so I don't have to feel my annotations should be constrained by their well-being etc.
It’s 2024 and this is still an issue. I don’t need to know every single time my professor draws a line on my assignment. It’s really distracting and makes it hard when I’m trying to work. I can’t imagine what it must be like for teachers who utilize student annotations. I also get triple the amount of notifications too because of the double notification issue and it going to my school email.
Update in 2025: I gave up and fully disabled notifications from the Canvas app in my phone. It has stopped the spam, but now I have to personally check my canvas inbox in the app regularly. It's minorly inconvenient, but way better than living with the spam every time I turn something in.
