To Our Amazing Educators Everywhere,
Happy Teacher Appreciation Week!
Using the mobile app with an iPhone when viewing videos, if the device is turned on its side in landscape mode the videos do not go into landscape mode. Even in full screen, the videos stay in portrait mode. Is there a way to make videos viewable in landscape mode on the iOS app?

Hey there, @gliderms ...
There was a new version of the Canvas app for iOS pushed out today, and I am wondering if they fixed this. I just tested putting an embedded YouTube video in a blank page in my own sandbox course. Then, I went to the page in my Canvas app on my iPhone 6 Plus. I was able to play the video and rotate it 90 degrees from within the Canvas app. Hope this helps!
Hi there, @gliderms ...
I seem to recall reading somewhere here in the Canvas Community several months ago that someone else was saying that videos didn't play in landscape mode on an iPhone. In doing a quick search on this website, I came across this Feature Idea which will be open for voting next month: . You may want to bookmark this Feature Idea so that you can come back to it and vote on it. Also, you can leave any comments on that Feature Idea of why this is important to you. I hope this helps!

This is still an issue in the app in March 2017.
Still broken in September, 2021, on iPhone. If the Canvas app is in landscape mode BEFORE playing the embedded Kaltura video (we don't use YouTube), it plays fine, otherwise it crashes the app.
This is a very old thread, @reynlds . If you're experiencing these issues with the app, please use the Help link to report it to Canvas Support.
