Why was this theme chosen to open for voting?

October 2023 • Administrators need quick and efficient access over video libraries of their faculty and students, so that they can provide better support for their day-to-day needs.

Why was this theme chosen for prioritization?

January 2024 • The selection of this theme is aligned with long-standing needs expressed by Administrators. Equipping them with a holistic view on their media usage and allowing them to manage their storage will help them support Studio at any scale.

Could this also include Bulk Download of videos?

@carriedickson yes, we are considering that option as well however, it is a tricky one if we think about the potential size of the bulk download.

Studio is PAINFULLY SLOW -- even on fast pipe internet. I am using it only for uploading some lecture content. For real time video feedback or quick announcement posting, it SLOWS and frustrates my workflow so I am still using screen-casto-matic(now screen pal) for most of my dynamic production of video communication for asynchronous classes. I teach 5-7 sections online so efficiency of workflow is key. I don't have the time to wait for studio when replying with video to a student question.

Canvas Studio needs an enterprise video management solution like its competitors. Having videos tied to individual user accounts is OK for an app, but it does not provide for videos in master courses (not "owned" by a particular instructor) or other institution-wide uses of video. Having individual users "share" videos is not quite sufficient. Canvas Studio needs an administrative back-end similar to Canvas.
