Canvas LMS

New!

What's new?

A brand new workflow with integration support (API and SIS) for Temporary Enrollment Pairing use cases.

Why is it valuable?

This new workflow streamlines temporary enrollment management for many use cases, but primarily will support scheduled enrollment and removal of substitute/relief/supply teachers into the courses of the Instructor that they are supporting. This could save massive amounts of time for some Administrators, and remove barriers that were preventing these users from being granted access at all. Students can expect a more engaged substitute/relief/supply teacher.

What's new?

Instructors will see a checkbox when creating a New Quiz to make the quiz anonymous. Parts of the Moderate page in New Quizzes will be hidden.

Why is it valuable?

Anonymous quizzes are important in an educational environment as they encourage students to participate freely, reducing anxiety and fostering a more inclusive learning atmosphere.

What's new?

Users are no longer restricted to account level sharing and aligning of content. Sub-account structure is now supported, meaning that they can create, share, and align item banks at the sub-account level.

Why is it valuable?

Many institutions create content at the program level, which often correlates to sub-accounts in Canvas. Having the ability to create, share, and align content in New Quizzes at this level is critical.

What's new?

Institutions will be able to query their Catalog data from CD2 (Canvas Data 2), which goes beyond the borders of the Canvas LMS and represents another milestone of tapping into the data paradise of the Instructure product suite.

Why is it valuable?

Institutions can now access Catalog data from Canvas Data 2 to power their analytics solutions.

What's new?

In Discussions Redesign users can choose to view discussion threads inline (legacy experience) or in a split view, which opens a tray on the right side of the page.

Why is it valuable?

Provides users with a more accessible and flexible viewing experience in Discussions Redesign.

What's new?

Administrators will be able to create three custom status labels by setting the text and color and disable default status labels to prevent them from being used in the entire instance

Why is it valuable?

Empower instructors with flexible status options like "absent" or "not present." Administrators gain greater control over default labels.

What's new?

LTI 1.3 tools will support Dynamic Registration with a simple copy and paste, enabling customers to improve data flows between Canvas and other LTI applications during tool configuration.

Why is it valuable?

This will allow the installation of LTI 1.3 Developer Keys in one pane of glass.

What's new?

Admin Analytics will function the way Canvas LMS does in the beta environment.

Why is it valuable?

Customers can try out new features in their beta environment before the features go to productions. Administrators will have time to communicate changes and/or prepare documentation and training for new releases.

Canvas Catalog

New!

What's new?

The sub-catalog admin page will be updated with a toggle for administrators to control access to the 'Tags' page for other administrators within Catalog. The 'Tags' page will appear for those administrators who have access to manage tags.

Why is it valuable?

Administrators will be able to manage and control which other administrators and sub-catalog administrators have access to add, edit or remove tags of listings. Tags play an essential role in students finding the right listings when searching and browsing courses so being able to select who can manage them is a crucial functionality of a course catalog storefront.

What's new?

Listing details page and Listings page will be updated with new fields to specify primary and other catalogs the listing is associated with.

Why is it valuable?

Catalog administrators can associate a listing with multiple catalogs, so that end users from various departments can access the same content without having to re-create and manage it in multiple places.

Canvas Credentials

New!

What's new?

Canvas Credentials now integrates with the Blueprint course, course copy, course export, and import functionalities to automatically sync and copy badges and pathways between courses.
