What's new?

When looking at Outcomes mastery levels in the Learning Mastery Gradebook, data from outcomes-aligned New Quizzes will be included.

  • Open Learning Mastery Gradebook
  • View data for specific outcomes that have been aligned to a New Quiz
  • See that New Quizzes are part of the calculation
  • Students see the New Quiz in the Student Learning Mastery Gradebook under appropriate outcomes based on alignments

Why is it valuable?

Instructors will gain improved insights into learner competency with New Quizzes data included in the Learning Mastery Gradebook, delivering deeper understanding to help educators better support learners.

Phase 1 of the Rich Content Editor integration will enable users to leverage:

  • HTML View
  • Accessibility Checker
  • Word Count
  • Math Editor
  • Media Recorder

Why is it valuable?

Educators will be able to more easily create and edit content and record media, as well as gain access to the same math editor that is used across Canvas. All of this empowers a more engaging experience for learners.

What's new?

Within outcomes, a summary will be available to instructors, showing content alignment to a specific outcome, allowing for:

  • Navigation to Outcomes and click on the Alignments tab.
  • Viewing a summary of aligned content to specific outcomes added to the course with the following filters available.
  • Filtering to view all course outcomes, including those with content aligned and those without.
  • Filtering to view only course outcomes with alignments and a summary of content aligned.
  • Viewing only course outcomes without any alignments in order to know what outcomes are not addressed by course content.

Why is it valuable?

Instructors will be able to easily view content alignments to each of the outcomes within their course, ensuring appropriate coverage in teaching required outcomes and providing students ample opportunities to demonstrate competency.

  • Feedback will be more visible to students with clear indicators on the grades page reflecting which assignments have feedback added.
  • A badge count on Grades in course navigation will show total number of assignments with new feedback to view.
  • The student grade page will be updated to have clear icons for feedback and rubrics via activation of indicators (blue dot) to notify students of new feedback as it's made available. This alert will remain blue until read.
  • Feedback tray will be made available in all views (assignment view and grades page) for easy viewing of feedback across all attempts.

Students will stay more engaged and informed with easy access to feedback from their instructors, and improved communication on their progress.

  • Assignment enhancements will support peer review. Students will be able to complete peer reviews within the updated interface instead of being pushed to the old.
  • Peer reviews will clearly be shown within the assignment and modules pages when assignment enhancements is enabled.

Why is it valuable?

Peer Review within assignment enhancements will be easier and more intuitive for students to find and use. This optimizes student access and promotes efficient communications as peer review notifications are activated.

Currently, admins can control Bulk Purchase and Enrollment on a listing level. With this improvement, they will be able to expand customization to control catalog/sub-catalog level updates.

Why is it valuable?

More granular controls around bulk purchasing improve the level of customization in Catalog and enable institutions to build the online course marketplace to fit unique needs.

Captioning experience in Studio will be improved for educational content creators and students as well.

The new caption editor allows educators to:

  • Quickly find and fix incorrectly identified words in auto-generated captions.
  • Make sure their captions are compliant with accessibility guidelines.
  • Edit captions and display changes real-time.

The new caption editor allows students to:

  • Change caption size.
  • Invert colors for the visually impaired and automatically save changes to make captions more accessible.

Why is it valuable?

Improved captioning solves current accessibility issues and helps teachers create accurate captions while reducing the number of tools they need to use and overall increases student engagement.
