Hi,
I am a teacher and am inquiring about being able to adjust the location of criteria on a rubric on Canvas. I have an existing rubric that I want to add to, but I am only able to add criteria to the bottom when I need to add multiple throughout the rubric. Am I able to make this adjustment without creating a whole new rubric (fingers crossed)?
Thanks!
Hi there, @ColleenTermine ...
So the short answer to this is yes. But, it requires a method that is not native to Canvas. Rather, a script was designed by @James Jones a number of years ago which should still work today. (I used it several times in my past position as a Canvas administrator at a Technical College in Wisconsin.) James has designed several "Canvancements" (Canvas Enhancements). The specific "Canvancement" that you'll want to take a look at is Sorting Rubrics Made Easy. You'll need to use the extension in Google Chrome, but James takes you through all the steps and also includes a video on what to do.
Also, I'm not sure if your school has purchased the DesignPLUS product from Cidi Labs or not, but DesignPLUS has their own way to re-order rubric rows through an option that can be turned on/off.
Finally, I know that there has been some work by Instructure on Rubrics, and I think re-ordering was part of this (though I'm not 100% sure on this). Check this blog post for more information: Enhanced Rubrics in Canvas: Phase 1 Released and F... - Instructure Community - 612550.
Anyway, I hope this will be of help (especially the info from James). Sing out if you have any other questions...thanks!
