The names of the assignment submissions are sometimes given a GUID suffix.
The screen snippet below is the listing of submissions from a calculator lab - the files as submitted by students were Main, calculator, lab5, etc. Some files get a dash and a single digit suffix to indicate the student has submitted a file with that name more than once. Some get GUIDs - which is confusing and annoying to rename if the code must be compiled to check it.
I am an instructor. To check the issue, I submitted the same file 3 times as a Test Student and it added a simple counter suffix. It would be worth running the test to submit the same filename, to multiple assignments, more than 10 times.
