I recently had to support a staff member to share an assignment portal to 12 other Canvas course sites that featured a unique Letter Grade Grading Scheme.
We used the Send To.. option to share it. Once it was shared and Imported into the other units, the Grading Scheme was lost and wasn't available to be selected in the unit.
We used the Copy To.. option to share it. This time, the Grading Scheme for the assignment portal was preserved.
Are there any reasons for this difference in behaviour?
I only discovered this through testing, because we didn't want to have to explain to 12 other staff members how to build a custom Grading Scheme to ensure results reflected correctly to 12 classes of students.
Hi @RobertWhite86,
You bring up an interesting question. I'm not aware of any documented differences in what move/copy to actually create in the destination course, but that doesn't mean there aren't any small differences like this. I know, in general, "copy to" is only going to have destination courses which the originator has access to. Send to is meant to share with teachers of other courses which the originator doesn't have access to. I wonder if perhaps permissions are coming in to play if potentially the send to receivers lack a permission that the originators do and that's why the grade scheme isn't coming over... Something to maybe check out at least.
