Jump to solution

How do I extend the quiz time limit for certain students? For most students, the time limit is set at 30 minutes, but I have two students with learning disabilities who need extra time on the quizzes.

Hello there,  @syukimoto ...

Please have a look at these two Guides.  I think they will help to answer your question.

Once I publish a quiz, how can I give my students extra attempts?

Please let me know if you have further questions...thanks Steven!

Can this be done in a batch? Instead of changing the time one quiz at a time for the same student, is there a functionality that allows me to extend the time for the same student in all the quizzes?

sadly no - canvas likes to make us click as many times as possible

rechang‌ and  @rlbrown2 ‌, the ability to extend the time for a single student in all quizzes is a feature of Quizzes.Next: How do I adjust timer settings for a student's assessment attempts in Quizzes.Next?‌

Yes, however I do not like to point people to beta tools.  you cannot import questions, give individual students extra attempts, and there are missing questions types.  People need to know that before switching to quizzes.next.  I am looking forward to using it, have been for almost two years.

I learned the hard way about adopting Quizzes.Next. What a waste of time! I hope Canvas does a better job of thinking through the migration to New Quizzes.

While there is no built-in tool in Canvas to extend time in batch processes,  @matthew_emond ‌ and  @shea_silverman ‌ from UCF have built a great open source tool that allows you to do just that - for multiple students and multiple quizzes at a time:

We have been using it for a couple of years - it is a fantastic tool that saves a lot of time!
