I'm having trouble accessing individual student dashboards. When I click "View Student," it defaults to my Test Student, even when I’ve selected a specific student from the People tab.
I’m trying to troubleshoot an issue where students report that their Mastery Paths aren’t functioning correctly. I need to view their modules to check whether any requirements were skipped, but I cannot access their specific progress.

Hello @FATeacher,
The only Canvas user accounts that are able to act as a specific student is a Canvas user account with admin rights and the "Users - act as" permission.
How do I act as another user in an account? - Instructure Community - 161
When a teacher (or an admin) of a course is in Canvas (even after selecting a specific student) and uses the "View as Student" button, they are viewing the course as a generic "Test Student".
How do I view a course as a test student using Student View? - Instructure Community - 1122
When using the "View as Student" feature, this does mean that it is not possible to view differentiations (such as, when an extension has been given) or the Canvas Dashboard as that student.
Does that help you?
Is there anything else?

To continue on, and I apologize for not originally including it in my reply, you would need to work with your Canvas team (or Canvas Support) to see if Mastery Paths are (1) setup properly and (2) working as expected for a specific student.
