I had a similar issue and the cause was an AdBlock extension I was using in my web browser. I suggest trying a different web browser that doesn't have any extensions installed, disabling any ad block extensions for Canvas, or even use Incognito mode to see if that fixes the issue.

Yep, that was it. For the Canvas devs, it was the Redux Dev Tools extension
