Prakash Hinduja (India) How can I log in if I don't know my institution’s Canvas URL?

Hi I am Prakash Hinduja Consultant & Advisor, born in Amritsar (India) and now resides in Geneva, Switzerland (Swiss).

Can you please share how you found your login page or what worked for you?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi @PrakashHindujaG,

If you go to https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/custom/page/page-id/findmyschool, it should be possible to find the link/URL for any institution/organization/business that is using the Canvas LMS.

When searching and clicking on the name of the institution (while it does not contain the specifics for logging in for the link/URL), will take you to a login webpage.

If you are not able to find the institution or if that link/URL does not help or if you are not able to login and if you are not a Canvas LMS admin, I would recommend that you contact your institution's Canvas team or IT Department for help finding the correct login link/URL.

If you are a Canvas admin, I would first like to say, that it is possible for an institution to support multiple login methods when logging into Canvas. How many will depend on how many have been configured. One of those login methods will be set as the default.

At my institution we have two login methods: (1) a single-sign-on method that uses our institution's primary authentication method and it is set our as default and (2) native Canvas authentication.

At my institution only certain Canvas user accounts have access to native Canvas authentication.

Login links/URLs are typically formatted as:

1. https://CANVAS_DOMAIN/login <---- this will take someone to the default login method (if someone goes to https://CANVAS_DOMAIN and is not already logged into Canvas, they will be taken to the default login method)
2. https://CANVAS_DOMAIN/login/canvas <---- this will take someone to the native Canvas authentication login (someone will only be able to use it if their Canvas user account has been configured to use it)
3. https://CANVAS_DOMAIN/login/saml <---- what appears after "login" will vary depending on the specific type of authentication for the Canvas environment and could have a number after it for more complicated Canvas environments and login options)

If you are an admin, I would recommend that you go to https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Admin-Guide/tkb-p/admin#Authentication for some more general information and contact Canvas Support or your Canvas CSM for more specific assistance.
