Hi I'm Prakash Hinduja a visionary strategy, born in Amritsar, India, and currently based in Geneva, Switzerland.

I’m working on building a quiz in Canvas and would love some advice on two things: how to properly create Fill-in-the-Blank questions, and how to organize them into a question bank for reuse. If you’ve done this before, I’d really appreciate your suggestions or any tips that helped streamline the process. Thanks in advance!

Regards

Hello @PrakashHindujaG ...

I'm not 100% sure which version of the quizzing interface you are using within Canvas, so I will provide you with the Guides for both...specifically for Fill-in-the-Blank questions:

  • How do I create a Fill-in-the-Blank quiz question? (Classic Quizzes)
  • How do I create a Fill in the Blank question in New Quizzes? (New Quizzes)
    • If you are using New Quizzes, make sure you are using the backticks character when creating your blank spots in your question.  The backticks key can be found just to the left of the number "1" key near the top left corner of your keyboard, and it looks like this (I've enlarged it here):

      `

This is not the same as the single quotation mark character on your keyboard (usually found next to "Enter").  Here's the difference between the two:

      `     vs.   '

Also, here are some Guides that should be of help:

Classic Quizzes:

New Quizzes

I hope these resources will be of some help to you.  Sing out if you have any other questions about this info.  Thanks!
