How do you type a fraction in quizzes?
Solved! Go to Solution.
This question has come up several times recently. Every time it does, I feel like there's more to the question than the person is asking.
For both classic quizzes and new quizzes, the answer seems to be to go into the equation editor and type a / sign and it will automatically convert it to a fraction for you.
If you are looking for something else, can you supply more specifics about which quizzing engine you're using (classic or new quizzes) and where exactly you want to get a fraction but cannot?

I'm in the new quiz engine. Students need to be able to enter fraction answers to numeric problems. In numeric problems they don't have the equation editor or rich text editor.
I just looked at the numeric questions in new quizzes, and the answer you have to give has to be a numeric value, so that is what the students would have to be providing as well. the fraction would have to be converted to a decimal number.
Did you mean a different type of question?
That is the issue. If the solution is actually 1/3, then there is no acceptable decimal answer.
Canvas needs to support fractions as answers in numeric problems.
+1 on having to support fractions (non-decimal) in the answer field and in the formula field!
