Hello, Canvas Community!

As part of our continuous effort to enhance the learning experience and recognize our students' achievements, we are exploring options for Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) applications capable of issuing certificates of completion within Canvas.

We aim to integrate a reliable and user-friendly app that can automatically generate personalized certificates for students upon completing a course or program. Ideally, this tool would allow for some customization in terms of design and information included on the certificate, ensuring that it aligns with our institution's branding and the specific achievements of the students.

Given the diverse range of apps available, I am contacting you for recommendations. We particularly want to hear about your experiences with any LTI apps that offer this functionality.

  1. Which LTI apps have you found to be the best regarding reliability, ease of use, and customization options for issuing certificates of completion?
  2. Are free options available that meet these criteria, or are most high-quality solutions paid? If so, are they cost-effective, considering the value they bring?

Your insights and experiences would be invaluable as we make this decision. We aim to implement a solution that enhances the value of our courses and provides a seamless and enriching experience for both instructors and students.

Thank you in advance for your recommendations and advice.

Best regards,

Hello @JelenaKalderon ...

When I worked at a Technical College in Wisconsin, one of our departments used the Accredible LTI external tool to issue certificates of completion to students in the class.  I had admin access to Accredible, and I helped with a bit of the setup (though since I did not teach the courses, I didn't have experience administering them).  As I recall, the admin interface was pretty easy to navigate through, and it connected with Canvas well.  I believe there was a cost for this product, but I'm not sure what that would be.  You'd have to speak with their sales team to discuss that information.  Here is the EduAppCenter website that has some information for you:

Edu App Cente: Accredible

I hope this will be of some help to you as you are looking for options that will meet your needs.
