Hi all:
I am working with a faculty member on an issue I've not seen before: their videos (mp4) are not listed in under the 'media' option from the file picker menu in the RCE for page/announcement creation. Rather, one must navigate through the file tree to find them (in a folder titled "uploaded media"), but when one chooses a video to embed into the page, it links it the same way it would a document rather than embedding it in an iframe.
The only thing I can think of that I've done to impact this would be to have removed a number of old video files that were inherited from the blueprint. Beyond that, nothing has changed that I can think of.
Any help appreciated!
Good afternoon, @mbweedman ...
Just for clarification, are you following the instructions outlined in the following document?
Looking forward to hearing back from you soon!
The files are already uploaded and located in the "Uploaded Media" files in the course files. However, they do not display on the file picker menu when "Course Media" is chosen in the RCE. Instead, you have to search through "All" files in the files picker, find them there. But when you click on one to embed it in the page, it links it as if it were a document and not a media file (i.e., without the iframe). Hope that makes more sense.
@mbweedman ...
I understand...however, please try following the steps outlined in the Guide that I provided to you to see if that will work.
As an alternative, has your school purchased Canvas Studio? (You'd see a "Studio" icon on the far left-hand side global navigation menu of Canvas.) You could upload the MP4 video to your Studio library, and then you could embed the video from your Studio library into the Canvas course.
Keep us posted here in the Community...thanks!
