Hi @Susan27 this is not actually a rollback, but I can appreciate the confusion. I don't think it was helped by Canvas making reference to a "revert back" to having the Assign To settings on the same page, as opposed to the slideout tray. While it's true the settings will once again appear on the same page along with the other settings, the interface is not the same as the prior, as evidenced by the parsed date and time settings. You can read more about it on the Product Blog linked here: https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/The-Product-Blog/Updates-to-the-Assign-To-Interface/bc-p/613697#M...
p.s. The Assign To button will remain following the update, and that button will link back to the slideout tray. We've tested for parity on our end and all seems fine.
Hi!
If I interpret the notes correctly, the "Assignments: Assign To Interface Update" is a roll-back of the pre-20 July situation. I would appreciate it if in future you explicitly state in the notes when it is a roll-back.
I would also like to receive more explanation about the motivation behind the roll-back and whether the "Manage Assign To link" interface is now permanently deprecated, or only temporarily parked.
Thanks! Susan
The new header says, "Note: The Canvas Deploy Beta and Production deploys are delayed by 24 hours. The updated Beta deploy date is 2024-08-30 and the updated production deploy is 2024-08-29." So the production deploy is 24 hours AHEAD of the Beta deploy? What am I missing or misunderstanding? Just wondering and actually somewhat amused! I mean, I think it is refreshingly bold to go with a production deploy ahead of a beta.
Hi @danaleeling,
I do think that message here is a bit confusing. I believe what they mean is that the production release day for these features has been delayed one day, from Aug 28 to Aug 29.
After the production release of deploys, I'm pretty sure there is a beta deploy the next day for features that will be in production 2 weeks later. That's now Aug 30 instead of Aug 29.
If I'm wrong about this, I'm sure someone will come along and correct me, but I'm fairly confident in this answer at this point.
