To Our Amazing Educators Everywhere,
Happy Teacher Appreciation Week!
Is there a limit to the number of linked videos we can include in Studio? I am teaching a music course the requires at least 10 videos to be viewed each week. At first, tracking seemed to work moderately well, but now, six weeks into the course, it hardly works at all. Am I doing something wrong?
Hi @RonDunn ...
Not that I know of. I have hundreds of videos in my own Studio library for courses that I've built for our faculty, and I've not heard of any issues like you describe. By "tracking", are you referring to the Insights that you can view when a student watches a video (so you can see if students are watching all or parts of a video)? Also, not that this should matter, but how many videos from your Studio library are you putting on a content page within your course? Could you provide some more details for us?
Thanks...and looking forward to hearing back from you soon. Take care...be well.
Hello @Chris_Hofer,
Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, the problem is with the "Insights" function. As I click on a student's name, it appears that they have not watched the embedded media (usually, a YouTube video). Generally, There are only one or two of these per page. I should note that this quarter is the first time I've used Studio in this way, and I am adding these videos on a weekly basis.
Hi there, @RonDunn …
Thanks for the additional detail. I guess I am still a little unclear what you mean by “hardly works at all”. When you click on “Insights” for one of your videos and then view the insights for a particular student…are you not able to click on the student’s name under the video to view the insights? Does something seem broken in Studio to view the insights? If that is the case, I would suggest you reach out to Canvas Support to report it so that you can get a ticket created. Do you know for sure that your students watched the videos? And, if so, are the insights not showing that they have watched all or parts of the video? That would also be something to mention to Canvas Support.
If you do end up contacting Support, please come back to this thread to provide an update so that we know how this might have been resolved for you…thanks!
