Why was this theme chosen to open for voting?

October 2023 • Teaching large courses where multiple instructors are involved can be inefficient due to challenges with enrollments, grading, and more. There are opportunities to streamline certain aspects of Canvas courses to let teachers focus on being more effective.

Currently, all canvas group announcements go to all instructors. In units with large cohorts, the use of announcements to communicate with one another this creates a lot of noise for teachers.

I know these aren't specific to large enrollment courses, but a few of the ideas here really caught my eye that I think would be useful in general. 

• The ability to add people for a set amount of time would be nice.
  • This looks like a feature that may already be in development based on the Product Roadmap  
• The ability to add People after a course is concluded (or the course dates end) would be useful for admin that need to manage Incompletes and/or granting user's access to review course content/activity after the course has ended.

For [People] Limit the "+People" form to the section a teacher/TA is assigned to (multiple teachers in one class), you would want to ensure that teachers could add themselves to sections they create as well. We use manually created sections for students needing access for incompletes and new faculty needing to access previous versions of a course.

The current maximum of 10 unique moderators across a large-class assignment is hugely restrictive. Either increasing (e.g. to, say, 100), or entirely removing this arbitrary limit would solve lots of problems.

We currently work around many of the moderation issues with a custom API script, but the moderator limit means that some things we'd like to do are simply impossible. This is an incredibly simple change to make – please include it!

Allow simultaneous grading please!  The other items could be helpful as well, depending on how they are implemented.

• Yes, please! Might you also consider instructors being tied to a specific GROUP? We use group discussion boards in large classes and different faculty are assigned to a particular group. We change the name of the group to reflect the faculty member who is assigned so the faculty know which they should be paying attention to, but it would be nice to remove the noise of the other groups for the faculty.
