Immersive Reader not available in C4E (?)

Hello all! It was brought to my attention by several teachers today that Immersive Reader was no longer available for students. (I don't know if this has been an issue since school started and is just now being noticed or if it started today)  So I looked into it and contacted Canvas support. They said it was a known issue that IR wouldn't work if Pages was disabled in the course. But in C4E we don't have the option to disable/enable Pages (correct?).

I found this known bug article posted just a couple of hours ago and provides a workaround, but it makes no mention of Canvas for Elementary. Has anyone gotten more info on this issue or know of any fixes?

Oh no, I missed that IR isn't working. I hope this gets fixed, expansion of IR to other areas of of Canvas is on the fall roadmap. Our K-5 students are a key audience for this tool.

This is frustrating -- I wonder since when this has been an issue? Because I always recall it working -- is this new?? 

The Known Issue page says:  "If you are encountering the behavior outlined in this document, please ensure you have submitted a Support case (per your institution's escalation process) so Canvas Support can adequately gauge the overall customer impact and prioritize appropriately."    I have submitted a ticket to Canvas support.

For the longest time we have told teachers to HIDE Pages, Files, Quizzes, Announcements, Discussions and instead organize these in Modules in order to help guide and direct students, and not have them click around the course navigation menu.

@peytoncraighill @jsailor  -- in case you weren't aware....    Immersive reader is huge for elementary.   Can this be fixed in all of Canvas, as well as C4E?

I just updated our Growing with Canvas course to include this info as well our Canvas Requirements document.

I submitted a ticket and heard back from my CSM:

Yes, hiding the navigation items is a best practice and the engineering team is working on a fix that will be pushed out as soon as possible. 

Our engineering team is working on a fix as quickly as possible. I'd expect that something will be pushed out very soon as the team is currently testing a solution. If at all possible I would not encourage teachers to enable navigation items.

We could not agree more that this is a critical tool to have available in Canvas for so many of our users, not only for elementary. 

@Hildi_Pardo, this is a recent issue. Our engineering team is working on both a fix and to determine what caused this issue. The fix is currently in feedback and testing. We plan to hotfix as soon as possible to restore the needed functionality.

Hello, all! Just a quick update that this issue has been hotfixed. You should see Immersive Reader as expected once again.
