This week Jody and I talk about a few things.
- We're going to come up with a better solution for banner images. Right now the banner is 25% of the browser height up to a max of 400px, the image resizes from outside-in, and 1200x200px seems to generally work okay. We're also currently reusing the course card image for the banner. This seems like a good default to maintain, but given the different contexts in which the image appears and the number of questions we've received on this, it probably also makes sense to figure out a way to upload a banner image separately with a firm "use these dimensions and it'll be good."
- The teacher to do list is coming soon!
- User-account associations update: We mentioned a hiccup last week in the original implementation of this that left some principals asking where'd all my students go after student enrollments were concluded. We fixed that already, but we still needed a way for students to switch to the "normal" Canvas experience if they moved from a school using C4E to a school using normal Canvas. So we're adding a status that checks if the student has any active enrollments in an account with C4E enabled, and if they do they get the C4E dashboard. If they don't, they get the normal Canvas dashboard. This way students automatically see the proper dashboard, and sub-account admins don't lose access to their students based on enrollment status.
