I'm trying to explain to some internal folk the difference between the Assignments and Quizzes.
I "think":
So you could have some quizzes that appear in Assignments table, but others that only appear in the Quiz table.
Sound right?
Thanks
Ian

@IanGoh That's right.
I'll note that there's a similar relationship between Assignments & Discussion Topics. Graded discussions show up as assignments; ungraded discussions do not.

Hmm, so in one case we have a "practice quiz" (checked the type) that appears in the CD2 Assignments table, and not the Quizzes table. Was it because the practice quiz had a score?
so digging a bit further, in the Assignments table, the workflow_state = 'deleted'
I'm guessing initially, it was a graded quiz (which put it into the Assignments table), then they deleted it; created a new practice quiz. Maybe...
That explanation makes perfect sense to me.
It may or may not be helpful to know that there are actually two separate objects for a graded quiz/survey and a graded discussion. There's the quiz or discussion object--that's the activity part--and then each has a paired assignment object that holds the assignment settings like point value, grade display type, etc. This was really obvious in the UI back in 2012, when the assignment part could actually be accessed separately from the student activity part. If you delete a graded quiz/survey or a graded discussion, you can still see the separate parts on the undelete page for the course. And, if you hover over the Restore button for each item, you can see the unique object IDs for each part.
The index of a course's undelete page, showing the two parts of a graded discussion and the two parts of a graded quiz.
