As an Elevate K-12 Analytics user, you may encounter specific terminology throughout Elevate K-12 Analytics. This lesson is a glossary that identifies the most common terms used in Elevate K-12 Analytics.

Charts

Charts are a type of visual that contains a graph or table displaying data. You can create charts in the Data Explorer, you can view charts, and add charts to dashboards.

Dashboard

Dashboards are type of visual and contain groups of charts gathered together, making them easier to access. You can create and view dashboards.

Data Explorer

The Data Explorer is a tool for analyzing data. It lets you explore your data by selecting various metrics to filter, categorize, and subcategorize into various charts and graphs that automatically update as you make changes. You can control the data display through a variety of customization options. Then, you can save the final result as an exploration or a chart.

Favorites

Favorites are the visuals, data explorations, or scorecards you want to access quickly. Favorite scorecards are located in the Quick Access folder.

KPIs

A Key Performance Indicator (KPI) is a measurable value that demonstrates how effectively an organization is achieving key performance objectives. KPIs may be used at multiple levels to evaluate your success at reaching targets. Elevate K-12 Analytics supports multiple ways of working with KPIs to support your organizational objectives.

Metrics are areas of data you can measure.

Perspectives

Perspectives are student scorecards or other types of scorecards which contain information in interactive data widgets that allow observation and tracking of various data.

Published

In Elevate K-12 Analytics, a published visual, watchlist, or data exploration is one that is shared with you or that you shared with someone else.

Student Scorecards

Student scorecards are a type of student perspective that display a variety of individual student information in charts at a glance. These charts display multiple dimensions of an individual student's data for multiple school terms or years in the areas of enrollment, attendance, discipline, assessment performance, and assessment scores.

Visuals

Visuals are charts and dashboards that you created, were shared to you, or that were added to your Visuals Library via your organization.

Watchlists

Watchlists are groups of students whose data you want to access quickly as a group. Static watchlists contain students you add manually. Dynamic watchlists contain students who are added automatically based on specified criteria. Points-based dynamic watchlists contain students who are automatically added based on weighted criteria.
