What is the Gradebook Filters Feature Preview?
Enhanced Gradebook Filters allows a user to set a series of conditions to be filtered for in the Canvas gradebook. Once applied, the user can save the filter view for future use or simply remove the various filtered conditions.

Also, keep in mind that the purpose of the feature preview is to get feedback from our users and iterate on the functionality as is appropriate, so some of these features will be added once users have had a chance to try out our new enhanced filtering capabilities.

Is the Gradebook Filters Feature Preview supported in beta and test environments?
Yes, it is. The Gradebook Filters Feature Preview was first introduced in the beta environment on February 17, 2022. It will be made available in the test and production environments on March 02, 2022.
Are all features supported in the Canvas mobile apps?
No. Because the gradebook table is not accessed through the Canvas Teacher app, there is no ability to use this feature in the mobile app.
How do I enable the Gradebook Filters Feature Preview?
Because this is currently a feature option, an administrator will need to enable the feature option for Enhanced Gradebook Filters for use in individual courses. If enabled and locked, all instructors will have the functionality available within their course(s). If left unlocked, instructors will be able to enable the feature option for Enhanced Gradebook Filters for individual courses as they see fit.
How do I access the Gradebook Filters Feature Preview?
Once the feature option is enabled for a course, instructors will see the Filters button in their gradebook. Clicking on this button will allow the instructor to create saved and ad hoc filters.
How is the Gradebook Filters Feature Preview different from the existing filtering options available in the Canvas Gradebook?
With the enhanced gradebook filters provided through the Gradebook Filters Feature Preview, the user interface has been updated to ensure that instructors know what filters have been applied to their course gradebook. Also, additional filters have been added to provide more flexibility and customization of the gradebook view for the instructor. The ability to save filters with a set of conditions has also been added to the enhanced filters for gradebook.
Does the Gradebook Filters Feature Preview work with Blueprint Courses?
No. Because instructors often have specific needs for filtering the gradebook, the enhanced filtering experience, including saving filters, does not work with Blueprint Courses.
