Request to Have Canvas Display Exact Date and Time of Student Discussion Board Posts

Dear Canvas, 

I have noticed that students' discussion board posts completed within the last 24 hours show as having been posted a certain number of "hours ago," e.g., 18 hours ago or 16 hours ago.   It would be very helpful to me to have Speedgrader display the exact date and time of the all posts.  If this is possible, it would make my life easier:)

Thanks for sharing this idea. We would love to make your life easier. 🙂  Could you confirm that this request is specific to how the posts display to the instructor in SpeedGrader? I ask because I can see date-and-time stamps for the posts in the discussions themselves. Please let us know!

Hi Stephanie,

I'm not sure why my request was archived.  I would still like to see exact time/date stamps on all discussion board posts completed by students when I am using SpeedGrader.

@MA-LU We archived the idea because we hadn't heard a response from you to the question we asked in October. Now that we know that the request is specific to how the posts display to the instructor in Speedgrader, we have edited the idea description slightly to provide that clarity and have moved it forward for broader discussion.

I'm not sure if it's not so much in Speedgrader, but definitely when you go to the Discussions folder, you don't see the time right away for the replies although you see the date. You have to hover over the date to see the time. Would it be possible just to automatically include the time with the date, so you don't have to take the extra step of hovering over it? Thank you!

As part of the new Ideas & Themes process, all ideas in Idea Conversations were reviewed by the Product Team. Any Idea that was associated with an identified theme was moved to the new Idea & Themes space. Any Idea that was not part of the move is being marked as Archived. This will preserve the history of the conversations while also letting Community members know that Instructure will not explore the request at this time.
