Suspend Notifications

We recently had a situation where a teacher needed compassionate leave.  We decided to stop all notifications to them from all our systems, so they were not being emailed from work during a difficult period.  With Canvas the only way I could find to do this was to act as the teacher, screenshot their notification preferences and turn them all off.  I will do the reverse on their return to work.

It would be good if admins had the ability to suspend all notifications to other users, teachers and students for set periods of time.

I can see how this feature would be very helpful for an organisation to be able to look after their staff.

Comments from Instructure

As part of the new Ideas & Themes process, all ideas in Idea Conversations were reviewed by the Product Team. Any Idea that was associated with an identified theme was moved to the new Idea & Themes space. Any Idea that was not part of the move is being marked as Archived. This will preserve the history of the conversations while also letting Community members know that Instructure will not explore the request at this time.
