[OPEN] BETA Rubrics with null long description on criteria give page error

Canvas

Engineers are currently investigating the issue.

Description

  • When a rubric has a criterion with a null long description, attempting to view the rubric in BETA will produce a page error with an unknown keywords: title caused by unknown keywords: title error in /error_reports

    • In my testing, copying a rubric with a criterion with a blank long description from another course is the easiest way to end up with a null long description (omitted long descriptions are set to an empty string when creating rubrics in the UI or via API).

Expected Behavior

Instead rubrics which display successfully in test and production should display in beta.

Workaround

No workaround exists at this time.

Steps to Reproduce

Prerequisites: Two courses in beta.

  1. Create a rubric in one of the courses with a criterion with the long description left blank.

  2. Copy the rubric into the other course then attempt to view the rubric in the course and note the page error.
