Docviewer preview is displaying watermarks on image files

Issue Documented: 2025-07-21
Canvas

This behavior has been resolved and deployed to the production environment as of 7/16/25.

Description

When a PNG/JPG/JPEG file is submitted to an assignment and previewed in SpeedGrader or on the assignment page with A2 enabled, it displays a watermark: “Evalution Only. Created with Aspose.Imaging. Copyright 2010- 2023 Aspose Pty Ltd.”

Expected Behavior

Watermarking should not be displayed on PNG/JPG/JPEG file types.

Workaround

No workaround exists at this time.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Create a course and an assignment in the course

  2. Add a student to the course

  3. Act as student and submit a PNG or JPG/JPEG file to the assignment

  4. See in student preview that the images display the watermark

  5. Stop acting as the student and go to SpeedGrader and see the watermark there as well
