[OPEN] Excused status on Discussion Checkpoints not correctly applied in traditional gradebook

Canvas

Engineers are currently investigating the issue.

Description

When applying an Excused status to one checkpoint of a checkpointed discussion in the traditional gradebook, users can no longer enter a grade for the second checkpoint.

Expected Behavior

Statuses like Excused should only apply to the individual checkpoint they’ve been applied to. Users should still be able to enter a grade or different status on the other checkpoint. If a checkpointed discussion only has an excused status on one checkpoint and no status or grade for the other checkpoint, the status will show in the total grade and when viewing the gradebook table.

Workaround

No workaround exists at this time.

Steps to Reproduce

Prerequisites: Have a course with students enrolled and a Checkpointed discussion.

  1. In a course go to the traditional gradebook

  2. Find the checkpointed discussion and open the detail tray for a student

  3. Change the label to Excused for one of the Checkpoints

  4. Observe that the other checkpoints has been disabled and a grade can not be entered
