Description

Old media links with the below formatting no longer play in Canvas. There is no error, but clicking on the play button does not start the video/audio

  • <a id="media_comment_m-5JxJzd136Gk3nSPn9G5e5b46s4xRXz2m" class="instructure_inline_media_comment video_comment" data-media_comment_type="video" data-alt="">

Expected Behavior

Old media links should be playable.

Workaround

Make a copy of the content which will change the HTML to the iframe format.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. In a course create a page and embed a media file.

  2. Change the format in HTML editor to match the example in the Summary (using the media_entry_id for the uploaded file).

  3. Save the page.

  4. Observe that the media does not play.
