How do I create an image cloze math formula item?

In Mastery Connect, you can create an image cloze math formula item. An image close math formula question allows students to use a calculator-like interface to input math formula type responses in locations positioned on an image.

You can create any item type through the Item Editor. You can also use the Item Editor to add passages, add item-level tools, and save the item. To open and use the Item Editor, learn more about:

Enter Question or Instructions

In the Item Editor, enter the question or item prompt in the Compose question field [1].

Optionally, you can enter text that displays when the cursor hovers over the image in the Text on hover field [2].

Enter text that displays when the image can not be displayed to the user in the Image alternative text field [3].

To lock the image so it is not scaled when the screen size changes, click the Prevent image scale text-box [4].

By default, the image of a triangle displays, to insert a new image, click the Edit button [5].

To insert an image file from your computer, click the Computer tab [1].

Click and drag a file from your library, or to search for a supported file type, click the Choose a file to upload link [2].

To save changes and upload an image, click the Save button [3].

To host your own online image, click the URL tab [1]. Then, enter the URL in the Image URL field [2].

Click the Save button [3].

Add Response Boxes

By default, a single response position displays. To add additional response positions, click the Add button [1].

To move a response box to different location on the image, hover over the response box and use the Move icon to drag the response box to the selected location [2].

Enter a formula template in the Formula template field [3].

To resize response containers, enter a height and width in pixels in the Width (px) and Height (px) boxes [4].

To lock response boxes in their set position, click the Vertical top checkbox [5].

Enter an optional ARIA label in the ARIA label field [6].

Note: Formatting can be applied to all response containers in the Response Containers (global) section, or you can apply different formatting to each response container in the Response Containers (individual) section.

Set Correct Answers

Enter a point value for the item in the Point(s) field [1].

To specify how the item is scored, click the Method drop-down menu and select a scoring method [2].

Enter the response for the first answer in the Value field [3].  

Enter additional scoring options using the text field and checkboxes [4].

To use combined scoring methods, click the Add link [5].

Repeat for all response points.

To add additional scoring and formatting options for the item, click the More Options drop-down menu [6].

Validate Answers

To preview the item interaction, enter answers in the response boxes. Then, to view correct and incorrect answers, click the Show Answers checkbox [1].

Incorrect answers display an X and are shaded red [2]. If the answer in a response box is incorrect, the correct answer displays in the Correct answers section [3].  

The number of points awarded for the item as answered in the preview window over the number of points possible display in the scoring bubble [4].
