Can I Hide Practice (New) Quizzes with Points for Requirements?

With Classic Quizzes, I was able to set up Practice Quizzes--with points--and then set up Module Requirements based on those formative Practice Quiz results.

However, with New Quizzes, as soon as I provide a point value the grade is forced into the gradebook, despite setting to "not count toward final grade."

I want to set Module requirements on non-graded, practice quizzes. Is there a way to do this? I want the new question types of New Quizzes, but the lacking functionality suggests I need to continue using Classic Quizzes. And what to do when Classic goes away?

@SeanQuallen I just tested this and found that it did appear in the Gradebook, but did not count towards the totals.

Thanks James, but I'm looking for the opposite. I want all these formative grades to NOT show up in the gradebook. There will be approximately 150-200 of these practice opportunities and I do not want those cluttering students' grade views.

perhaps set your default grade posting policy to hide grades unless you post them manually.  In this case, your many practice quiz grade columns will not be visible to students.  However, I find that students like to see their practice grades--it's just a quick scroll down memory lane 😉

@SeanQuallen Unfortunately, it does not look like this is possible at this time. I did mention to Instructure at a customer feedback session at InstructureCon that it would be useful to be able to hide columns in the Gradebook from students. I think your best bet at this time would be to continue to use Classic Quizzes. If it is no longer available at your institution, you may want to speak with your Canvas team about possibly setting up access to Classic Quizzes in a special subaccount.
