Compressing Stimulus Images

I've run into a few instances where the browser has frozen for students when a New Quiz has a lot of images in the stimulus section or question directions. These quizzes can be slow to load on my PC when I test but crash all together on our student Chromebooks. Changing the quiz setting to load one question at a time typically resolves the issue in the moment. Most teachers aren't thinking about file sizes or image compression. Is there any plans to automatically compress embedded quiz images to optimize page load performance? I believe Canvas already compresses course card and C4E course banner images. Getting the RCE in matching and other question types so teacher can embed images in those question types has been a frequently requested feature in this group and should that feature ever get developed I see more instances of these page timeouts coming up if there isn't some enforced compression.
