Hello,
We run on a 9 week 4 term schedule. We grade sync with infinite campus as well.
I was wondering the best way to merge an the 2 shells of an 18 week course. I used to just change the end date of the term 1 shell and add any users, but that seems to mess with the grade sync function. My current plan is to copy informations from term 1 into term 2 shell, but wish there was a better way.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
Not quite sure if this meets your scenario.
We have an issue around December (when we allow the button to show up) in our 9Month courses where content from the provider makes the shell, grading, content slow for users. We created a process to split the course (create a new), and move the section (enrollments with IC passback) to the new course. The requirement for us was retaining the section for passback, while improving the user experience.
As long as the new course shell is in the same sub-account in Canvas, you should have no issues cross-listing the sections into the original/first course shell. You likely will need to edit the term and/or course dates in the original shell to allow students to participate in the course, but course dates and terms are "sticky", and will not be reverted back due to the SIS integration syncs. Grade Syncs do not include any dates related to the course (except obviously the dates on an assignment), nor do they use the sis_id of the course, but utilize the section's information.
