Announcing a Change to the Monthly Test Release Schedule for Canvas LMS

The Canvas LMS product and engineering teams release new and updated features to production monthly, on the third Saturday. Traditionally, these release items have also been enabled in test environments to keep consistency and allow for additional testing of features beyond the beta environment. 

In addition to releasing these features, the test environment is refreshed on this same cadence. Any content added to or modified in the test environment will be overwritten by content in the production environment on the same day as the production release. Given that this process takes time and we want to ensure that all features are available in test environments as anticipated and not reverted during the refresh, we are adjusting the test release schedule to the Monday following our production release moving forward. All features will be enabled in test by 3:00 pm Mountain Time (MT). This change will not affect the test refresh or production release schedule; both will continue as usual. 

This change is effective immediately with our July release. You should anticipate the July production release and test environment refresh as scheduled on Saturday, July 15, 2023. New and updated features will be released to test environments on Monday, July 17, 2023 by 3:00 pm MT.
