This has been shared in the Commons Product Blog previously, but for better visibility I'll share this here too.
On Aug 19, 2023 (Saturday) we will deploy the new Commons regions and perform a migration so every Commons instance is hosted from their respective areas. Here is the previous announcement if you’ve missed it.
In order to minimise the effects on the fall start in the US region we decided that we won’t hold any downtime during the migration period. This means that Commons will be available, but some inconsistencies can be experienced within the new (EU, Canada, and APAC) regions while using Commons.
To make sure the transfer will go smoothly, please do not make any changes (e.g. adding/updating/removing/favoriting/importing resources) to any Commons content in these regions from 9AM CET until 4PM CET on August 19th, 2023.
Such changes during this window will be lost after the transfer is complete.
This means these changes need to be set up again in the new region, after the transfer. If you are using Commons at this time, please make sure you check your content after the migration is done.
The migration won’t have any effect on the US instances, as US instances won’t be migrated.
If you have any questions please reach out to your CSM.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation!
