Video overviews reflect current feature functionality in Studio; they are updated based on workflow changes, not on minor or non-functional interface enhancements. Depending on your institution's Canvas theme, the interface may display differently than shown in this video, but the functionality is the same.

Managing Studio Media Video Script

In this video, you will learn how to manage Studio media in a course. On your My Uploads page, you can find existing media by clicking the Search icon and typing in the search field. To add media to your library, click the Add button. You can add files from your computer by dragging and dropping or by browsing for files on your computer. You can also add media from YouTube record a video using your webcam or record a screen capture. You can also embed Studio media in your course. After clicking the Studio icon in your course, hover over the media you want to embed from Studio and click the Select This button. By default, comments are included when Studio media is embedded. To disable comments in the media file, click the Comments toggle button. By default, the download option is disabled when Studio media is embedded. To enable the download option for the embedded media, click the Display Download Option toggle button. Then click the Embed button.

When media is added in a course, the title of the media is created using the name of the uploaded file, but you can edit details by clicking the Details tab and clicking Edit Details. Details include the title, description, and tags. As a media owner, you can add a caption file to your media files. You can also auto-generate captions in Studio. Click the Captions icon to turn captions on or off.

Once users view your media, you can view and manage comments. When enabled, dots will appear in the timeline to indicate comments throughout the media file. You can view comments on the media file or you can view them directly in the Comments tab.

If you are a media owner, you can monitor user behavior through user analytics. To view analytics, click the Insights tab. The Insights tab shows a graph of all users who have viewed the media at least once.

On your My Uploads page, you can manage all your Studio media files. You can share media, get a public link or embed code, and delete the media. To share media with users, click the options icon and then click the Share Media link. Then click the People tab. In the Name or Email field, enter the name or email of a user in your organization’s account. When the user appears, click the user's name. You can change permissions for a user by selecting Can View or Can Edit from the permission drop-down menu and clicking the Update button. To remove a user from the shared list, click the Remove icon. To get a public link or embed code for showing media on public websites, go to the Links tab and if you have not previously generated links, click the Create Public Link button. You can then copy the Public Link or Embed Code from the appropriate field. To delete media, click the options icon and then click the Delete Media link. Then click the Yes button.
