Updated Features

Assignments and Events

The Calendar has been simplified to display a single blue dot for any date that contains an event or assignment. Previously, a unique dot would display for each course with an event or assignment.

Conversations Enhancements

The Conversations tool has been updated for an enhanced user experience. For instructors using the Canvas Student app, these updates mirror the Conversations tool in the Canvas Teacher app.

As part of this update, the Messages icon in the app navigation has been renamed the Inbox icon.

Users can filter messages in the Inbox by unread, starred, sent, or archived messages. They can also filter messages by course. As part of the Conversations update, users can no longer archive messages in the Canvas Student app. Messages can be still be deleted in the app or archived by using Canvas in a web browser.

New Messages

When composing a new message, users must first select a course and then search for users within the course. Conversation messages can be sent to multiple recipients and sent as an individual messages to each recipient.

Message Details

Users can view the original message and all replies in the Message Details page. Users can now star, forward, or delete a message from this page. To view or add multiple recipients to a message, users must tap the Reply link.
