We are sorry to hear you are experiencing difficulties with your password reset. What you described certainly sounds like abnormal behavior, as any password reset that you perform should not revert or change unless prompted after the initial process.
We recommend that you try clearing your cache and cookies or even try another browser or device as this tends to resolve most issues that stem from any auto-saving or technically abnormal behavior. If you have done so and continue to have the issue, please feel free to contact us directly by clicking the "Help" icon in the bottom left of your screen after you have logged in and are looking at your dashboard. Have you checked with your school's Online Learning/eLearning department or someone from your school's IT department to see how Canvas logins are handled? Many schools use their own school login system to also log in to Canvas vs. using the standard Canvas login screen. This is sometimes known as single sign-on. It might be the case that there is an issue with your account at your school that might need some extra attention. Here are a couple Guides:
