I like to respond in the discussion to student discussion posts as they come in during the week.  With the new discussion format, how can I see who I already responded to and who I didn't without clicking on 
"Reply" for each student to see if one of the replies is my own?

Hello @MSpelleri ,

I understand that you would like to be able to see who you have/have not responded to in the discussions redesign, without having to expand the replies. Unfortunately this is not a possibility at this time.

I can provide two workarounds that may lessen your need to expand the replies, however, they won't do away with expanding the replies altogether.

1. Enable the "Discussions - New Reply" notification type, which will notify you each time there is a new reply in a discussion topic that you are subscribed to.

2. Filter the discussion topic by all replies or unread replies.

Is there any chance this feature will be added in the future? The discussion redesign makes it take much longer to grade and respond to student posts.

So I can filter according to my name and see who I have replied to and who I haven't, but that is still not going to make it any easier to then go to those I haven't replied to.   Very cumbersome design.   Moreover, if I can't easily find my responses to students, students certainly can't.  Students should have an easy way of finding all the instructor's posts, not just those directed to him or her.  Just like in a classroom when a student makes a comment or asks a question and the instructor answers, the entire class can potentially benefit.  The new discussion design no longer allows for that entire class to "hear" the feedback. Let's talk about actual, undergrad, state college/community college students and how they engage, or don't, with discussions and what we can do to improve their engagement.  I hope you see my original post about how this new design seems to take student engagement backwards a couple of steps.  Thanks for reading!
