New student has problem with sign Access Denied You don't have access to view this resource. What should I do ?
Hello @HELP613 ...
Is the resource that the student is trying to access a link to a document, image, or other area of the Canvas course? When you look at the URL of your course in the browser's address bar, does the Course ID number (the number after /courses/#####) match the number in the URL at the bottom of your browser when you hover your mouse over the link? If those two numbers do not match, this usually means that the link is pointing to another course that the student does not have access to. Sometimes, people try to copy and paste links from one course to another, but this is no advised because it makes links for students inaccessible. I'm not sure if this will apply in your case, but it's something to investigate for your situation.
I hope this will help a bit. Sing out if you have any other questions...thanks! Take care, stay safe, and be well.
That's what's happening. But, what's the solution?
Good morning, @yusymillancba ...
I just replied to you on a different topic, and you can find that at:
Re: How do students access links from a copied cou... - Instructure Community (canvaslms.com)
Hopefully there will be some info there which is helpful to you.
This problem has recently come up for me. I use the BigBlueButton every day to monitor students in my classroom and remotely. I wanted to make navigating easier for students so I made a graphic for the BigBlueButton on my course home page with a link to https://cet.instructure.com/courses/460/conferences/1461/join This is the link that is giving them the error message. The url for the page that has the "join" link on it is: https://cet.instructure.com/courses/460/conferences What link can I put behind the graphic that will consistently directly take them to my BigBlueButton conference?
@ffdixon ...
Do you know of any solutions for @GeoffreyWheeler on this one?
@FredJohnson or @FredJohnson1 do you have any suggestions?
Hi everyone,
You can give students a directly link to join a conference (assuming they are enrolled in the course and have permission to join), by hovering over the join button, right-clicking, and choose "Copy Link Address"
You'll see the link is the form
https://<host>/courses/9/conferences/797/join
You can then put this link in a Page or Calendar entry and students would be able to click and join.
Regards,... Fred
@ffdixon thanks. That's what I thought. That's what I did. That link is giving at least some students the error.
