1. How do you add people to a course if the people button is not active?

You'd need to contact your IT department. Some institutions have the +People button turned off so instructors can't add people to the Canvas course, while other institutions keep it available.

Hi, Jon,

As Leslie said, some institutions don't allow users to be added manually because users are being managed through an external system. You'd need to add a student using the procedures directed by your institution.

If you are usually allowed to add students to a course, the button is disabled once the course has concluded.
