Hi,
I just wanted to check if the analytics available to admins at an account level is for all users (staff and students) or just students? Across the top of the page, you get the data for the number of courses, teachers, students etc. And then you have either a graphical or tabular view that shows activity by date (page views and participation). What I want to know is if this data, e.g. page views, is for all users (students and teachers) or just students?
Thanks
Stephen
Good evening, @SMCK ...
This is a great question! I think that this Guide, How do I view account analytics? - Instructure Community (canvaslms.com), will be helpful for you to look at. Specifically, take a look at the section on "View Analytics Graphs" and the sub-headings below it. From my own interpretation of the descriptions, the data displayed would apply to all users...not just students. In fact, the first sentence under the sub-heading "View Activity by Date" says, "The Activity by Date graph shows all account activity for all users enrolled in a course for the term." (highlighting is my own) Even though the "View Activity by Category" paragraph does not specifically say "for all users", I would interpret that first sentence in that section that it does include all users.
If you wanted, at the bottom of that Guide, you could suggest any improvements or clarifications to those descriptions by clicking on the "share your feedback" link (under the two red buttons for "Ask a Question" and "View Related Guides"). This link takes you to a form that goes to the Canvas Documentation Team. They will review your feedback and make any necessary changes. They are always open to our suggestions to clarify if things are not clear in the Guides.
I hope this helps a bit. Let Community members know if you have any other questions about this...thanks!
