If I post an Announcement in an unpublished course, will my students still see it?

Students cannot gain access to your course until your course is "published".  Then, any announcements that you've set up to display to students would be available for them to view within the course.

I know this question was posted some time ago, but one thing I've noticed is this: when I post an announcement in a published course, it is also sent to my students as an email. However, if the course is unpublished when I post an announcement, it does not go to their email, even once the course is published. So, if I do want it to send to their email (which I almost always do), I don't post the announcement early.
