We sync our grades from Canvas to PTP. At this moment teachers are having to go into Q1 and UNsync all Q1 assignments so that Q2 assignments will sync properly. If they do not toggle the Q1 assignments to Unsync, they are receiving an error message that says some assignments are in a locked grading period. The previous grading period IS locked. It's over and done with. It seems unreasonable that teachers would have to go back to a previous quarter and turn off the sync option for every assignment so that the new quarter grades will sync.
I am wondering if anyone else is having this same issue, but mostly looking for someone who does not have to do this and find out what is wrong with ours.
Solved! Go to Solution.
The option to "UN-Sync" wasn't available to me, so I went back into each and every assignment from the 1st quarter and unchecked the box to Sync to PowerTeacher Pro. When I synced again, it took almost an hour to go through, but it seems to have brought everything over.

After reading your post, I went back and unchecked the box to "Include this assignment's grades when syncing to your school's Student Information System" on EVERY single assignment in the 1st quarter, hit Sync again and, after about an hour, everything for the 2nd quarter seemed to have gone through correctly.
It does seem like an unnecessary step, but it works. If you find a better
solution, please let me know.

This unnecessary and time-consuming step appears still to be the only way to avoid not only the "Locked" error when syncing grades, but also the complete freeze of all grades from going through. The nature of the error is such that the grade sync does not push grades over to PowerSchool. The error seems to "clog" up the sync. More concerning than the issue itself is the fact that this is a roadblock to teacher buy-in for schools trying to get everyone on board; an unnecessary and illogical hurdle. I therefore go in over the course of a couple of weeks and uncheck all of my teachers 3000+ assignments. This has to be done before the grading periods (1 and 3) can be locked as our PowerSchool administrator needs to do. As has been said previously, we need some way to easily have Q1 and Q3 assignments stop trying to push once the admin-defined grading period has ended.
