[ARCHIVED] As an instructor registered on Canvas Free, how do you register for a university?

I am an instructor and currently have a Canvas Free account.  The school I teach at is now sponsoring Canvas.  Can I register my Canvas Free account with my school?  How do I do that, if I can?

Hi Michael,

The Canvas Free for Teachers would house all the data of your students and your content, the content could be moved over (via an export and an import the export instructions are available at How do I export a Canvas course?  and the import instructions are https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-12783-415241324 ).

The challenge with user accounts and user data is there is no easy way to transfer them over and translate the student accounts to their formal accounts with your institution.

I would recommend teaching out the current session/semester and when the next term/semester starts you can copy your content over and then begin using the school's paid Canvas instance.
