[ARCHIVED] As an observer how can I tell when an assignment or quiz is completed?

I would like to know before a quiz or assignment has been graded.

Here is an example of what I see as an observer vs a student when it comes to the calendar.  Both were taken at the same time but the observer cannot see the assignment was completed while the student can see the assignment crossed out.
