We have been having an issue with an assignment's grades staying hidden. We enabled "Hide Grades" yesterday and then today the grades were visible, even though nobody changed this setting.
The crossed out eye is on the assignment in the grading center.
Any feedback would be helpful.
Thank you.

Hi Jami,
I've been encountering a lot of issues with this. I hope the following information will be helpful to you.
“Muting” is now referred to as “Manual” in Canvas. Previously in Canvas, Instructors could click on the ellipse icon and select “Mute Grades” to hide a column in the gradebook. Now, to hide the column, instructors must click on “Grade Posting Policies”. Once selected, a new menu will appear. Click on “Manual” and then click on “Save”. This will hide the grade column.
The Orange Eye Icon will appear when something has been submitted and it has been graded in the current grade column. The column is still muted. When the eye becomes a gray color, it indicates that a grade column is set to manual posting. This is the same as muting. When grades are placed in this column, they will not be visible to students until the instructor manually posts the grades.
To hide a grade column with grades already posted, click on the ellipses icon and click on “Hide Grades”. A new window will open. The options displayed will allow the instructor to select specific sections if preferred. Click on “Hide” to hide the column. This can also be controlled in the settings. To access the settings, select the cog wheel icon in the upper right of the window. In the new window, select the “Grade Posting Policy” tab. This will allow instructors to set the entire course to manual posting if desired.

Thank you! That is very helpful and explains what happened to us.
